12 Superfoods That Will Help You Increase Sperm Count, Production And Motility.

Are you ready to start having kids, but worried your sperm count is too low?

Infertility is a growing problem worldwide. It affects about one in every six couples, and researchers estimate about one in every three cases is due to fertility problems in the male partner alone. While infertility is not always treatable, it can sometimes be improved with a healthy diet,

On the other hand, semen is most likely to be fertile when it contains more than 15 million sperm per milliliter. That count can go down when your testicles get too hot when you’re stressed out, and when you have an STI that’s interfering with sperm production. Luckily, there are many steps you can take to boost your count.

Add these foods to your baby-making menu to boost your chances of conceiving:

1. Dark Chocolates

Dark chocolate contains an amino acid that has been proven to double sperm and semen volume.
It’s also high in antioxidants – enough to rival pomegranates and acai berries. Antioxidants are a great weapon against free radicals, nasty little molecules found in pollution and toxins that are linked to male infertility.

But don’t go overboard – putting on weight can cause imbalances in testosterone which could lower your man’s sperm count.  A couple of squares a day is plenty.

2. Eggs

Eggs are considered a great option to increase sperm count, as well as improve their motility. High in vitamin E and full of protein, eating eggs protect sperm cells from the free radicals that can decrease your count.  These nutrients assist in the production of strong and healthy sperm, which is important to fertility.

3. Spinach

Folic acid is vital to the development of healthy sperm. Spinach and other types of leafy green vegetables are a rich source of this vitamin.

When your folate levels are low, there is a greater chance you will produce malformed sperm. This will lead to sperm that will have a hard time reaching the egg and penetrating its protective barrier.  Also, there is a greater chance of birth defects because of the faulty sperms chromosomal abnormalities.

4. Bananas

Bananas have been found to increase male libido and regulate sex hormones because of an enzyme called bromelain.
They’re also full of vitamins C, A and B1 which will boost his body’s ability to produce sperm.

5. Pumpkin Seed

Men can also benefit from the zinc found in pumpkin seeds. Reduced sperm quality and even infertility in men may be associated with low zinc levels. Consuming these seeds may help improve overall sperm quality. The antioxidant content may also play a role in healthy testosterone levels.

6. Broccoli

Besides asparagus, another green vegetable full of folic acid is broccoli. Folic acid, also known as vitamin B9, is already known to help women conceive and is now becoming more recognized as important in male fertility. In one study, men taking a daily dose increased their sperm count by as much as 70%.

7. Garlic

If the strong aroma doesn’t put you off doing the deed, garlic is a great baby-making booster for your man. It contains two magic elements – allicin, which improves blood flow to his sexual organs and protects sperm from damage, and selenium, an antioxidant that improves sperm motility. One to two cloves a day is a good amount.

8. Pomegranates

This delicious fruit is known as a powerful food to increase sperm count and improve semen quality. It is full of antioxidants that fight free radicals in the bloodstream. Unchecked, they can destroy semen and significantly decrease your sperm count. The juice of pomegranates has been recorded throughout history as being used as a fertility booster.

9. Walnuts

Omega-3 fatty acids increase sperm count and boost blood flow to the genitals – and walnuts are a fantastic source. They’re a tasty on-the-go snack and can be sprinkled on cereal or dessert. Other good sources of omega-3 fatty acids are crab, salmon, chicken and pumpkin seeds.

10. Asparagus

Another food to increase sperm count is the green vegetable called asparagus. Super high in vitamin C, it has a wide range of positive effects on your sperm. It protects the cells of your testicles and fights free radicals, allowing for greater sperm production of healthy swimmers.

11. Ginseng

This aphrodisiac root has been used to treat infertility for hundreds of years. It boosts levels of testosterone and increases blood flow to the genitals, with some claiming it even treats erectile dysfunction. Get your man to drink tea with ginseng, or take dried ginseng root each day for a TTC boost.

12. Oysters

Oysters are one of your man’s best sources of zinc, which helps sperm production. If it doesn’t hurt for being an aphrodisiac, load him up with 15mg a day at around 50g of oysters and you’ll be making babies before you know it. If your wallet or his stomach can’t stretch to that much, other great sources of zinc are turkey, pumpkin seeds, lobster, and mussels.
